Abstract

After the War of Independence of 1857, when the British occupied India, an army of Christian priests and missionaries joined them to maintain this colonialism and started influencing the local Muslim population with their Christian beliefs. In this situation, the Muslim scholars, realizing the fragility of the time, prevented this invasion of Christianity with the weapon of speech and writing, and not only did they bind themselves to this growing trend of Christianity, but they also fought it firmly. The scholars of that time certainly deserve praise, for they not only fought the false beliefs of these missionaries and priests in the field of knowledge but also proved the truth and superiority of Islam against them. Maulana Rehmatullah Keranvi and Maulana Sanaullah Amritsari are among those who have done a very high level of work against this invasion of Christianity. These two personalities wrote and spoke in their own way for the rejection and defense of Christianity and Islam, and they also debated with Christian priests. These scholars not only defended Islam through their writings, speeches, and debates but also countered the false beliefs of Christian missionaries and priests through argument and burhan. It proved the biblical distortion with arguments, rejected the false belief in the divinity of Christ, and effectively defended the Prophet Muhammad. Both of them fought the rising storm of Christianity with their writings and speeches and defended Islam in such a way that the truth and falsehood were illuminated like a mirror.
